Design for an antependium (?)

Middle section of a frontal (antependium), with a decorative medallion that contains the depiction of the lamb lying on a cross; the space for this medallion has been left blank in a red-painted backcloth. At top and bottom, and around the edge of the drawing, we see decorative volute motifs.
