Inventory number: CVH 377
Bollaert & Moortgat

Design in perspective for the main altar of St. Augustine’s Church in Antwerp: the central altar is simple; there is a Baroque tabernacle on it and a statue of a saint on a plinth on the left and right; behind the altar, a tall area has been left blank, intended for a painting, and above it is a segmental fronton, in which putti are floating; above this, up to the dome of the choir, there is a depiction of God the Father in a bank of clouds, to whom an angel is presenting a large book, and above whom is the triangle of the Holy Trinity.
