Design for the base of a crucifix

Inventory number: CVH 338/10
Bollaert & Moortgat

Design for a crucifix on a tall pedestal. The cross itself, on which Christ is hanging and which bears the inscription ‘INRI’, is on a globe around which a dragon with a serpent’s body is coiled; these are fixed on a richly decorated stand and pedestal. In the middle of the base, a medallion has been left blank, above which a cherub’s head is depicted to the left and right. At the bottom, a scale indication has been suggested by a few lines.
