Design for a crucifix

Inventory number: CVH 338/29
Bollaert & Moortgat

Design for a crucifix: both the cross and the base on which it is standing are given, on the left and right, in two alternative designs; in both cases, the base has a volute and foliage motif, and a cherub’s head. On the medallion in the base, there is the bust of a Mater Dolorosa, with a sword through her breast in the right-hand version, and Veronica’s Veil with the imprint of Christ’s Holy Face in the left-hand version.
